The Visitor Services Team

The Department of Conservation Visitor Services team are committed to providing the highest quality visitor experience for your enjoyment. The Visitor Services team are responsible for running the visitor centre, cafe, shop and all of the visitor facilities outdoors including walking tracks, lawns, building maintenance, landscaping and many other tasks. The Cafe Takahe team prepare delicious food and beverages for you to enjoy and at reception, the friendly staff meet and greet visitors and provide expert advice.

 
 
Anne joined the café team in 2003 and enjoys the relaxed and friendly atmosphere amongst all the staff. Jocelyn has been working in the café at Pukaha Mount Bruce since early 1999. She and her husband are farming locally. She enjoys gardening, family gatherings and socialising with friends.
Jim has retired from a career of more than 30 years in computer systems development and management. He and his wife are now farming locally and he works part time at Pukaha Mount Bruce maintaining the site infrastructure.
 
Lyn McDermott is one of our casual receptionists who works at the Masterton office as well.
When you visit Pukaha Mount Bruce, chances are you'll meet Pam at the front desk. Pam has been working at Pukaha Mount Bruce since 1997 and can also be seen delivering talks and guided walks.
 
Adelaide has worked part time in the café for over 5 years. She is currently studying commerce at Otago University.
Claudette getting into some baking in the kitchen. Claudette has been working with the café team since 2002. She and her husband are dairy farmers at Putara, not far from Pukaha Mount Bruce.
 
Merryn is responsible for the grounds and gardens around the reserve. She first began working with the café team approximately five years ago and after about a year in the café, took up the challenge of keeping the grounds looking great.
 
Tansy has joined Pukaha Mount Bruce for the summer of 2004 as an Interpretation Ranger. She comes from the Department of Conservation's Kiwi Recovery Programme down in Haast, South Westland.

 

Kathy manages the visitor services team and the day to day visitor operation including the reception, retail and café functions, maintenance, education and interpretation. She began working at Pukaha Mount Bruce in late 2000
For over five years, Kerri has been working part time with the café team. Kerri lives locally on a farm with her parents and brother. She has finished her final year at Wairarapa College and will shortly begin her first year of a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in agricultural science at Massey University.
 
Lisa has been part of the café team for five years and has worked part time during the holidays and weekends. She is in her second year of a Bachelor of Nursing Degree at Massey University in Palmerston North.
