The Interpretation Displays

Pukaha Mount Bruce is a Department of Conservation showcase to demonstrate the conservation work undertaken at Pukaha Mount Bruce.

The first class Visitor Centre boasts “Islands Alive” - an audio-visual that brings to life the fascinating field techniques and personal stories involved in the fight to save the country’s threatened wildlife.

Interpretation displays tell the Pukaha Mount Bruce story of how Elwyn Welch, a local Mount Bruce farmer changed the course of history by successfully breeding New Zealand’s endangered takahe, close to extinction at the time.
